Christchurch mosque attacks changed/or should have changed/ how multiculturalism is viewed in New Zealand. Please share some concrete suggestions on how all of us can work together to make Aotearoa New Zealand a more diverse, inclusive, and multicultural society.

New Zealand is a country of many ethnicities, cultures and beliefs. In that sense it is already a multi-ethnic and multicultural society.

I believe we are lacking to have interaction with other ethnicities, I can see there are massive potentials & skills in our ethnic communities are not getting involved in the issues and activities.

People living in a suburb should have ownership and stake in places of worship in that suburb. Places of worship should have PR and liaison officers who should be tasked to engage other communities and promote social work within the suburb. Problems in the suburb shouldn’t just be the govts headache, community centres like places of worship should contribute and actively volunteer to promote ownership in the society and community to reap the benefits of the multicultural society. Representatives from places of worship should regularly visit schools, old homes, sports club and various social groups to better engage with them and neutralize the effect of negativity promoted through biased media. They should actively involve in charity and donation events to identify and help the needy in the society.
